Advanced Meters are coming to the City of Cartersville!

We've taken your requests of providing more accurate utility bills to heart...and we are working to implement a beneficial 21st century system that will do just that [and lots more].

This Advanced Metering Infrastructure [AMI] technology will more accurately measure your utility consumption, transmitting it securely, remotely, and directly to the City of Cartersville. Phase I of installations kicked off Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

It incorporates a new smart utilities meter that can help pinpoint issues, while securely transmitting important information to our Utility Departments.

What will this do for you? For one, it will give you an added peace of mind and more assurance that your utility bill is correct. It will also allow you to have better control and management of how much you consume and when you consume it. Below, you'll learn some of the benefits of these smart meters, as well some handy tips on how to lower your utility bill.

The project will be phased in over two and a half years and include over 30,000 meters.

Scope of Work & Schedule

Phase I [April 19, 2022 - April 21, 2022] *COMPLETED*
   - Replacement of about 100 meters
   - Testing to be completed May 20, 2022
   - City of Cartersville Utility Technicians will be performing the installations
Phase II [Projected start date of February 2023]
   - Replacement of about 11,000 meters
   - Projected date of December 2023: 50% total installations complete
   - Projected date of July 2024: Installations complete
   - City of Cartersville Utility Technicians, along with contracted UMS technicians, will be performing the installations
