Department: STORMWATER 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this position is to provide regulatory, coordination, and administrative support to the Stormwater Division, and providing information and assistance to the public regarding the activities of the Stormwater Division. This position also includes being back up for the Public Works Administrative Assistant.

Major Duties:

Work includes coordinating, preparing, and submitting several annual regulatory reports and permit documents; coordinating, tracking, and processing financials (cost estimates and invoices) for stormwater projects; coordinating, processing, and tracking stormwater complaints from initial phone call or inspection record to final closeout; maintaining records for stormwater program; and various administrative tasks such as answering phones, ordering supplies, running errands, and acting as backup to front desk, as needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• A High School diploma or state-issued GED is required.

• Three years previous work experience in stormwater, wastewater water treatment, customer service and general clerical duties in an office environment or other related work with a transferrable skill set is required. Specific experience in stormwater, wastewater, or water treatment is highly preferred, as is experience in NPDES and MS-4 reporting.

• Training from a recognized institution in office technology, office administration, business administration, public relations, engineering, urban planning, stormwater or closely related areas is desirable.

• The following trainings and certifications are desirable:

   o GSWCC Level IB Advanced Fundamentals for Erosion Sediment Control Certification

   o GSWCC Level II Certified Plan Reviewer

   o NPDES Certified Stormwater Inspector Certification

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to three years.
