Cartersville Police Tactical Team

The CPD Tactical Team is comprised of members from various divisions of the department. Members are chosen from veteran applicants who must pass physical, psychological, and firearms proficiency tests. Tactical Team Officers are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Officers work their regular duty assignments in the following areas:
  • Patrol  
  • Investigations 
  • Narcotics
  • School Resource
The Tactical Team consists of an Entry Team, Counter Sniper Team, and Negotiations Team. Each member of these teams has specialized training to better enable them to perform their duties. A few of the specialized courses members of the team have attended are:
  • SWAT 
  • Hostage Negotiation
  • SWAT Weapons/Submachine Guns
  • Counter Sniper I, II and III
  • Specialized Impact
  • Munitions
  • Distraction Devices
  • Rappelling
The Tactical Team trains monthly and is readily available to be used in the City of Cartersville as well as in any neighboring agency in Bartow County.

The Tactical Team responds to Hostage Rescue, Barricaded Suspects, High Risk Warrant Execution, Active Shooter Response and other special events. The Tactical Team is activated only by the Chief of Police.
