We hire on an as-needed basis, as openings become available. We welcome both certified and non-certified applicants. Minimum qualifications for a police officer with the Cartersville Police Department include:

At least twenty-one (21) years of age

High school graduate or equivalent (college is a plus)

No criminal history of felony convictions or convictions for aggravated misdemeanors

No arrests within the last 8 years

No marijuana use in the last five years or more than 5 times lifetime

No hard drug use during your lifetime

Certain misdemeanors can disqualify an applicant as well, such as a pattern of disregard to traffic laws. A complete listing of the disqualifying factors is contained in the application package.

Other requirements and considerations for employment include, (but are not limited to)
successful completion of a:

Medical examination
