The Parks & Recreation Department has specific field use policies based on intended use. For more information, see Fields. If you are getting together with some friends and want to play an impromptu softball game, or just want to toss a Frisbee, most fields are available for drop-in use, unless prepared and scheduled for an official game. Chalk lines on a softball/baseball field are good indications that the field is off limits. Also, look for signage on backstops for age restrictions. |

Planning and Zoning
Visit the Planning department office on the second floor of City Hall on the downtown square to first meet with a staff representative and obtain an application. If the property is contiguous (adjacent to) a tract that is currently located in the incorporated part of Cartersville, you may fill out an application for annexation. There is a required fee (see fee schedule on the Planning page of the website). The public notice part of the process requires that adjacent property owners receive a letter regarding the proposal and that a notice run in the newspaper regarding the proposal. The Planning Commission meets first to review the application and recommend approval or denial to the City Council, which then reviews the case two times before making a final decision on the application. From start to finish, the process takes approximately two months. |

Contact Richard Osborne at 770-387-5614 for the current zoning of a property, since many properties have conditions of zoning on them and properties are subject to being rezoned frequently based on owner request. |
